Does My Blackness Intimidate You?
Social Darwinism they call it
The color of your skin and the language of your people determine your future. They say
So they enslaved us
They oppressed us
Whps beat us
Chains kept us in captivity
Our minds and hearts begging to be free
Over 300 years later
we are free, we think
But the chains are still there
Their mentality didn’t allow-
Our mentality didn’t allow us to be free
That slave mentality
The mentality kept us bound to them
So we got pride
Pride in our race, not hatred in the other (that’s often confused)
We do stuff on our own but because they still live in a slave mentality,
we can’t advance
See because the system never works in our favor
We always have to go them to go higher in the world
But we still get nowhere
We get put into urban areas,
where there are more gun shop and liquor stores than hospitals and schools
We get put into concentration camps,
where they want us to kill each others and ourselves
People working 2 or 3 jobs just to pay bills
Just to put food on the table
All of this for what?
Does my blackness intimidate you?
