My Heart May Be Soft
My heart may be soft
But not as soft as your lips
After that first date when we
Had our first kiss.
My heart may be soft
But not as soft as the blanket
We were wrapped in that night
When I was sad and you came over
It was midnight, and you wrapped
Me in your arms making me feel safe.
My heart may be soft
But not as soft as your voice
As you vocalized “I Love You”
When we laid under the massive sky
Talking about our future.
My heart may be soft
But not as soft as the wind
That hit us that late Sunday night
As we walked holding hands
Down the calm beach.
My heart may be soft
But when you walked away
You ripped my heart out and
Shattered it into a thousand pieces
And it became harder than rock.
My heart used to be soft.
