The Truth About Living
We hurt and we hurt,
A cycle we are chained to
From the moment of birth.
I prick my fingers on rose thorns,
then break your heart to complete the circle.
We're hurting or we're hurting.
There's glass in my veins,
cracks in my ribcage,
Another day another scrape.
Once the bleeding stops
I'm the one pointing the blade.
I like to hurt and to hurt,
We all feel the same.
I'm not sick,
I'm not crazy,
I'm living.
So break me,
it's a command.
How else will I know
I am still breathing?

The title says it all: this is the truth about living, or at least what I've come to learn. We're either getting hurt or we're doing the hurting. It's an ongoing cycle.
