Ocean Tide
Dark, rippled tide
Waving against airborne wind,
Nowhere to rest, nowhere to land,
Resilient against gritty sand,
Repelled continuously by tranquil hands,
Enveloped in a frozen heart,
Of the lands, miles apart,
To where nothing can be seen.
Shouting to echoes of the twilight sky,
Shuffling, back, forth, back again,
Dark, rippled tide,
No form, no identity of shapes,
Slapped upon, by endless tears,
Stepped upon, by weary fears,
Screamed upon, by lamenting souls,
Jump in resilience, only to be stricken,
With forces screeching in protest,
Laugh with hunger, thirst of freedom,
To be met with a prisoned soul so vast-yet petite,
Thunder, stormy clouds meet, in mocking of a tide so weak
Dark, rippled tide,
So free, yet bound,
So blue, yet dark in her deepest core,
So sweet, yet vicious,
So vast, yet lonely.
