The Death Cycle of Love
Leaves fall off for a reason,
Old age, their time to fall.
But no one hangs around to see
The journey they go on.
What happens before the disappearance?
Their layer of resistance.
They appear to be fine on their own,
Beautiful colors that speak volumes
And paint the mountain tops.
Thousands of leaves, but you choose one.
One that catches your eye,
One that you didn’t miss out on,
One that exudes peace.
What happens after the one crosses?
They change color, becoming unsure,
Questioning the appearance of
Reality and Society, Truth and Lies.
Their king being Rumors.
He strategically attacks here.
He masterfully paints
The layer of resistance that was once
So beautiful, but now
Crumbles, crunches at the touch.
So why do you leave this leaf in distress?
It was your time to go,
To cross back, find a new leaf
To take on a questionable journey:
Life.

This poem is apart of a collect, poem 2/2. The first poem is "Unresolved Love"
Altogether, the poems represent a couple who experienced a one-sided relationship. One felt everything was okay, that they were strong enough to stay together. But little did she know that her incapability to mature in her mind led to their break-up. The other partner, however, is mature and knows when it is time to let go. I want this poem to be able to tell someone that although you think everything is ok, it is best to look at the bigger picture. Try to see situations from the other partner's point of view. Don’t let outside forces and conflicts mess with your head, but don’t be too naive where you don’t know when a problem arises.
