Facebook Regret
A short note on regret
Or in other words
What I should have said to the ignorant boy that posted the Offensive thing on Facebook.
This is for you.
For your scrunched back curved downwards as you sit
Hunched over you're glowing keyboard
Typing things at 2 am for nothing else can keep you awake but the Delicate art of offending others.
This is for the cowards who think that if they post something online, It’s not a big deal
No honey. It’s still a big deal.
Feed filled up with lives
Thumb posed like a pistol about to fire out a tragic death sentence
Pictures
Sayings
Video of baby pugs dancing

The offensive thing I saw on Facebook read, “I couldn't care less about the Holocaust”
Reaction one from myself: Is this a joke
This is a joke
Are you kidding me right now
This has got to be a joke
This is not a joke
Pause
Take in 3 gulps of cold air to reduce anger rising inside of me
Like a shaken cocacola bottle
Reaction two from myself:
You don’t care about the holocaust
You don’t care about the
You don’t care about
You don’t care
You don’t care about 6 million innocent Jewish people being murdered in what was the largest genocide know to mankind?
You don’t care about people dying
You don’t care about people
Do you care about yourself
How about your family?
Have you ever met a survivor
A cute old Jewish man wrinkled with age
His eyes reaching into the past to tell you a story that will change
your life.
Have you ever met a short blond loud chick
Who stands at the front of the room belting out sentence fragments
In a vain attempt to reach your soul.
Her great grandparent had to flee their lives and leave all of their belongings
Just so they might have the slightest chance of living.
Those who don’t learn about history are condemned to repeat it
Whispered to me as my mom squeezes my hand
And we enter, together the Holocaust museum in Isreal.
What about people who just "couldn't care less" about the history
My history
You're history
The ignorant boys history
All of us.
Because we are all people.
And no one should have to struggle the way our people did
Regret verb
To feel sad, repentant, or disappointed over (something that has happened or been done, especially a loss or missed opportunity).

I wrote this piece in response to an offensive post I saw one day on Facebook. It is meant to be read aloud, and in a Slam Poetry style. I decided to express myself in the best way I could, so I used writing. I hope people can gain the understanding that posting offensive things on the internet can hurt others.
