The anticipation is dreadful,
Its threat always looming over me.
It’s all I can think about
And yet I can’t bear the thought.
I’ve been preparing for so long,
But it’s never enough.
I can only hope for the best,
And pray I do well.
If it would only pass sooner,
I may feel at peace.

But once it is over,
What will I do?
It has taken my time, and my life.
It has become my sole purpose, and my only goal.
I’ll need something new,
But I’m not ready yet.
I just want to stay,
Where it’s safe and home.

But I need new experiences,
I need to meet new people,
I need to go my own way, and
I need to grow up.
I’ll make a new chapter
And I’ll find a new light.
If anyone can do it
Then why can’t I?
