Apocalypse

A knock on the door.

Fingerprints on the window.

The cold air stings.

Too lazy to ring the bell.

Bright futures are not ahead.

People perish peacefully

In the once lavender fields.

Animals romp over the bodies.

Icy winds blow.

Smells of dead fish surround.

I stare into the abyss,

Instead of looking toward destruction.

I will go on a picnic.

Salt spills as I walk.

Oh how I hate messes.

Battered world and battered dreams.

The garbage is full of

What we once were.

Love never conquers all.

The author's comments:

We often times ignore the hardships in our lives, especially as teens. We don't want to accept that the world is not perfect. We want to stay in our own little bubble to avoid the destruction
