Worries
Worries are like tattoos.
Once you allow them to mark you,
they’ll never let you forget about them.
Worries are like robbers.
Stealing your valuables that you treasure.
Stealing your feeling of trust and safety.
Worries are clouds.
On happy, bright days, you barely notice them.
On sad, dark days, you can’t ignore them.
Worries are parasites.
Worming their way in,
slowly harming you until you can’t bear it.
Worries are ever present.
They follow every bone rattling BOOM of thunder,
Every attention-seeking, wailing ambulance siren.
Worries are in everyone,
But it’s whether you choose to let them affect you
That matters in the end.

I was inspired to write this poem because I couldn't help worrying about every little thing, no matter how trivial, and once I thought about it, I found it difficult to ignore them. Worries once dragged me down, but now I have learned to manage them, and that was what inspired the last stanza especially.
