Windows
People say the eyes are the windows to the soul and that they show who you really are. Most appear to be happy and positive but really, if you look at them, if you truly look into some people's eyes you can see their story and most of the time it is not happy. You see bad memories and you see misery. Some people cannot hold their emotions in, they can not fake a smile. Some people break down and it begins to show on their face. You begin to see the years of heartbreak and pain and it slowly just begins to erode the natural glow they have to their skin, the seemingly happy look, they look destroyed. As if their mind is crumbling, struggling to find happiness.
There are some people that have been exposed to years and years of sadness, people that can no longer contain it. It begins erode their exterior and now to there is no clear definition of what happiness is yet people try and try to fake it but it has become nearly impossible. They spend their whole lives trying to help others achieve what they no longer believe is true, genuine happiness. In a way people are like buildings, with enough weathering and damage, they eventually just crumble.
