Achievements
Goals.
Many people work towards them,
yet falter in their steps
at the slightest hint of others’ esteem.
Should I be proud of my achievements?
Or will the pride consume me,
devour me,
incinerate me,
until there’s nothing left?
Apparently achievements are treasure chests,
black boxes.
You need the right key to unlock them.
You need to follow the map exactly to find them.
Everything is laid out explicitly,
there’s no need to deviate from the course.
If there’s only one way to success, to achievement,
then will I turn back now or will I find another way?

This poem is based off of the phrase "achievement unlocked" and is also a reflection on my own achievements.
