No Flowers for the Dead

  I do not wish for flowers when I am dead.

    I wish for you to see me when I am ill,
     when my heart craves to be with you.
   I do not wish for flowers when I am dead.
 I do not wish for you to remember me of who I used to be.
                     Come and see,
               see who I have become.
    I do not wish for flowers when I am dead.
    I wish for you to come to me as my soul drifts apart,
           a smile painted upon your face.
   I do not wish for mournful faces when I am alive nor dead.
              I wish for you to come see me
                  when I need you the most.
         I do not wish for flowers when I am dead.
