Everything is Inverse
Society,
a favorable balance of trade.
It will never ask for more
than you can give.
People,
they care about you,
they care about your well-being,
they care about how perfect your life is.
Or, that's what you think...
Right?
Technology,
it progresses,
it makes us smarter,
it makes us more empathetic.
Love,
everyone feels it,
it's intangible...
Or is it?
Women,
a prize worth more than gold,
indispensible.
The ones on the pedestal extend their hand
to help the ones that reveive society's scorn.
Double standards,
voices strangle themselves
not to speak of them.
People stand against them,
they never cower away
from the harmless sting
of such policies.

"Everything is Inverse" is a free verse poem where the description of each idea or concept is the opposite, or inverse, of what happens around us. Each idea is written from different perspectives of people. The reader should receive a message along the lines of "Expectation vs. Reality". The ultimate goal of this piece is to challenge people to acknowledge the inverses that exist today and to not follow them.
