As swiftly as you left, another in place came
She filled the void you left and picked the pieces that remained-
of the man you left so broken and fixed him just like new.
No longer would he hurt and long for the likes of you,
for the girl who filled your shoes cared more than you ever did
And to the memories of you, farewell they have bid.
The pain that you have caused him has passed like the wind
Not a trace of you is left for him to even reminisce
For there is a delightful girl who lifts him higher than the clouds
Fear and worry not for in her arms, he is safe and sound
Regret no further that you did not stay through the faults and folds,
For no matter how large the struggle, through all, his hand she’ll hold.
The girl who took your place burns with passion as the sun
She inspires him to live, and never to give up.
The man you once tore down has reached his every dream
You wish you could have been there for him during his time of need-
yet you weren’t.
But the girl who took your place was there through blood, sweat, and tears.
And the boy that you have left him for has all but disappeared.

This poem was inspired by the struggles my friend had faced with his ex-girlfriend. When we were talking, I could hear in his voice that he was in pain. All I wanted to do was be there for him. I stayed and helped him, no matter how bad things got and it blossomed into a beautiful relationship. I hope that this will inspire teens to preservere through all their diffiulties in life. Remember that when one door closes, another door opens.
