White Privilege

I stand here before you,
In injustice that is true,
The protesters shout "black lives matter!" And Bigots shout back "all lives matter!"
And the sad truth is most of us would shout the latter.

because my pale skin used to mean oppressor, does that mean I am an oppressor?
You know, we read it in history books and talk to our professors, but does anyone ever think "has it gotten any better?"

Sure the Black aren't in shackles and chains
Except their souls and brains
are still shackles and chains.
We take their talk, take their walk, take their music, take their style.
All while not being aware of where it all came from.
We strip away the history, push away the misery, put a light face to it and the rest, it amazes me,
How affectively it slips into our minds that in this time, there's no oppression, no hate and no crime...

"Well accept when "thugs" walk down the street in the dark."

Well, accept the corrupt cops who get off hurting little kids,
You believe "it's you're fault if you run" and that makes me cringe.

You say "white privileges don't exist" well I say that they do,
Want proof? Want me to say something convincing for you? Well since I'm white might actually listen to me:
I didn't have to write this for you.
