Twilight
I love the twilight
Because it is a limbo
Of dusk and dawn
Of light and dark
With mellowed hues that hum
Of summer days
Drawing to a close
As bare dandelions sway
Of the bitter chill in winter
Rosy cheeks aglow
A carpet of burnt leaves
streaks of renegade color
And in twilight
I can run
And run forever
Into the sorbet sunset
Into the milky stars
Into a version of myself
That lives within the pauses
When secret words are whispered
That lives between the moments
That leave my eyes burning
And my throat stinging
That lives between the bleeding ink
Of pain that writhes inside me
I fear
My soul
Is darker than an inky black sky
So beautiful
Yet so empty
So cold
I love the twilight
But I am afraid of the night
