I Believe
I believe in dreams and fears
the thought that one can escape his fears
the way the moon silences the night
and the emerald catches a ray of sunlight
I believe in a young girl’s wings
the thought that as she flies, angels will sing
Her dreams will shatter as soon as glass breaks,
breaking the promise of newborn snowflake
I believe in the hand of a deep blue sea
the way the water glistens at me
the sky has fallen, the world’s gone bland
if it were only as easy a slight of hand
I believe in the touch of a soft whisper
the way that the warmest glow can bring a slight shiver
the birds above me and the earth below my feet
knowing all the secrets I have yet to keep
I believe in words spoken
unlike desires and guesses, so easily broken
meadows and flowers stretching beyond eye’s reach
the things of beauty we only ever see in our sleep
I believe in the world’s final goodbye
and its purity, despite the treachery and lies
I believe in a man not lost
by the shift of the wind and strength of rock
For one who can hold his own in a long lost maze
will capture the universe’s eternal gaze
