The one
The one who was my first love
The one who knew how to make me smile
The one who always let me help
Even when he didn’t need it
The one who always knew what to say
The one who was not only my grandpa
The one who put me to sleep every night
The one who I called dad
The one who raised me
Like he was my father
The one who called me his baby girl
The one who always knew what to get
The one who taught me everything I know
The one who always knew what was going on
The one who was always there for me
When storms boomed
The one who loved me for who I am
The one who baked cookies on rainy days
The one who would go to the end of the earth for me
The one who was my first love
The one who grew older
The one who never stopped fighting
Even when life became hard
The one who always looked on the bright side
The one who taught me never to give up
To be who I want to be
He was a hero
The one who was my first love
The one who I called Papa

I wrote this for my creative writing class. This poem is about my grandpa who recently passed away. We were very close, when I was three I began to call him dad. When I lost him I lost a piece of me and by writing this poem I feel a little better.
