The Eagle
You may say it’s just a pin.
Yes, but it is the man who wears it.
This is a young man, dressed in a uniform
that night this little pin was placed upon my heart
red white and blue, the colors of our flag
It is placed here to remind me why and how I have come so far in my journey.
The road to the eagle is long; and the trail may be worn away by time.
But I have have climbed the mountain in a true and scout-like manner.
Yes, it is true. I have touched the eagle at the peak of this mountain.
I have seen the views and vistas of the world, and they are truly amazing.
I have paddled across the lakes of Northern Tier in Minnesota
I have had sand and dirt blown in my face at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. And sang along the trail as I went winding around the switchbacks, and climbed 12,441 feet to the summit of mount baldy.
I have been to Sea Base in the Florida Keys where the ocean meets the sky and the sunset is truly stunning and where I sail and smile into the horizon.
To Adventures on the Gorge in West Virginia in the smoky mountains, my last hoorah!
I have seen the eagle, he is so majestic because he is the symbol of our country. and he wears a silver crown upon his head to remind me of where I have come from, the red and white of poland!
When he swoops and jumps somersaults in the air, the tips of his wings become fire. Then, thundering down into the highlands of foreign lands. Then fly to Panama singing the National Hymn of the republic.
I too want to feel the eagle’s power, but to do that comes with responsibility.
So yes, you may say: “it’s just a pin, just an Eagle Scout badge.”
But it is the heart beneath it that matters.
May it beat like a war drum, strong, proud and true.
I am an Eagle Scout, and now I have truly reached the eagle.

What inspired me to write this poem, is that I am an Eagle Scout and I have worked so tremendously hard to get where I am now.
