The Colors Of Life
I watch as a sapphire streak races down the curved road
The only splash of color against the tar and the gray skies of the overcast day
From my perch I can see the driver
Young and innocent
A brave face in this cold world
A second car enters my view, black this time
Crossing back and forth over the yellow dotted lines that divide the road
A line between calm and chaos
Suddenly a flash of silver catches my gaze
A flask filled with poison
All at once the intoxicated and the harmless collide
A grim episode before my tired eyes
My heart tells me I should fly over to the site
But my senses tell me it's no use
I can see the wreckage, rims and wheels, and glass, and metal everywhere
Crimson stains the site
Like a bomb exploded, bringing time to a halt
I swallow my fear and approach the wreck
One body remains alive
A noise of disgust escapes my mouth as I see who
The filth who caused this mess
The soul guilty party
He could lie there dead for all I care
She’s buried and bled out under the mess that was once her car
I don’t understand why the world does this
What thing gets to choose who lives and who drops like a fly
A million emotions flash through my small mind as I turn away taking off in the other direction
A piece of her car is littered down the way
I pause and look, its her car’s radio
Still on and playing
It’s tune probably the last thing she heard
The sweet sounds of song sang her to a new world as she parted this one
Hopefully white meets her beyond the veil
Welcoming her with warm open arms
For tonight was her last in this cold cruel world
I bitterly observe the man as he wakes up
A luxury she’ll never get again
I see the shock on his face and the pain flash through his chocolate eyes
He knows this is a mess he can never clean
He and I will never forget this bloody red scene
