God's Blessing to Her

May God bless her,
May He bless her every Sunday at mass.
Every day of her precious life,
may He bless her.
She shall have His forgiveness
when she shall sin.
Her local pastor will be forgiven,
when he asked her into his office.
He shall be forgiven when he asked
for her to take her clothes off.
He shall be forgiven when he touched her,
his fingerprints forever etched into the young girl’s mind.
The feeling of innocence and virginity
stripped away by a man of God.
He was forced to document his sin,
but she was not forced to confess.
The smell of his breath burnt in her nose
when she passed her old church.
The sound of his voice echoed
as her mother asked if you’re ready for mass.
She began to lose faith and falls away from Him,
and asked Him why.
Why her? Why did she still remember?
So she turned to a razor and some scar cream.
Why didn’t the Lord protect her?
Why didn’t He let her forget?
Why did He do this to her?
She abandons all hope.
Her only solution was to ask God, in person
In Heaven.
She asked herself, as she hung from the ceiling,
I couldn’t have said no, right?
For that would be sin.

I got the idea for this poem from the popularity of the movie Spotlight, a movie about unspoken molestation within the Catholic Church. I hope that people can get a little more awareness from this poem.
