A Child
A child is playing in the streets
Too young to see the risks
Too young to see the danger
He left his home
he left his toys
He left his mom
He left as a boy
The boy is lying in the streets
He knew the risks
He assessed the danger
He returns to his home
He returns from his quest
he returns lying down
with a flag, now at rest.

This piece was inspired by two people: my older brother and a friend of mine. It was originally born of fear, but became a message. I was trying to reference the effects that war has on a person, and potentially their families. I hope people can see the struggles that come with being in the military or knowing someone who is.
