Jesse
And you said forever
With faithful eyes
And a quiet smile
And now I can only wonder
If you knew what that word meant
Because at night I sit in a naked ocean
Surrounded by wistful ghosts
Hearing the voices of recorded apparitions
Seeing you and the others
From a far away light house
And sometimes the creatures downstairs visit my liar
To ask me if I am alright
To ask why I spend hours alone
To ask me where you went
And I tell them about the fight to end all other fights
I tell them about the blood, tears, and hearts
Laying to waste in a crowded graveyard
I tell them what you said about me
How you promised to be better
And then decided I wasn’t worth the effort
I tell them how I endlessly apologized and all you could say was
Goodbye
And I try to explain to them that this is all for the better
But seasons have past
Tides have changed
And I just searching for a reasonable answer to explain
Why you left
Forever
