Loneliness
it starts out small (almost nonexistent)
pushed back to the farthest corners of the mind
who can be lonely when there are wild adventures to go on
and imaginary friends to play with
however as you get older it grows
first a loose seam then the tiniest of holes
snagged and caught by life’s hardships
(the opening expands)
some days it’s torn wide
(an inevitable gaping rift in your heart
sucking everything into oblivion
the shadows are deep dark and alive)
still there are these special moments in life where the gash is sewn
like seeing a rainbow after the rain you forget everything
(the pain the fear and the unknown)
all you can do is marvel and wonder
how can something so enormous and energy-draining just disappear
yet with closer examination a scar still remains
a (constant) reminder that loneliness is always there
a wild thing crouched and ready to spring
