Promise To The Sun
I kept looking up and seeing the night sky slowly being robbed of its stars,
One by one they faded as dusk turned to dawn.
And in that moment I knew you were giving up your cold darkness,
Promising the sun it could keep your soul for all of eternity if you didn't love me as much as it's light did.
Dawn slowly faded into dusk but you weren’t there in the sky.
You were beside me.
I looked at you and for the first time I didn’t see the moon in your eyes.
Instead, I saw a blazing fire, a present from the sky and a memory of your eternal promise to the sun.
Then I knew, before you even spoke the words, that I would never have to look up again.
