Sisterhood
How can I even express
how thankful I am for you?
You are a shoulder for my head to lean upon,
a soft hand to hold,
and a reassuring touch.
Spitting images in face and in heart.
Always together,
facing life’s troubles
with intertwined hands.
I'm now aware to the unvarnished truth
of just how essential a sister could be.
Fights run their course
taking everything precious under their wings,
and leaving more pain behind.
But not with us
who choose to love continuously.
How can I ever say thank you?
My sister,
You are a shoulder for my head to lean upon,
a soft hand to hold,
and the biggest part of myself.
