My Father Loves Me
Here I am,
Laying awake while you sleep.
I can’t help but think how trapped I am.
Of all the people,
You choose me.
Every night,
You choose me.
Isn’t there anyone else you can love so much?
That must let everyone know,
Even when you are not around,
They know.
From the broken ribs, the scars and bruises,
I tell myself its how you show your love.
I tell myself its okay.
It will end soon,
You will grow out of it.
Last Night you came home drunk,
I tried not to move,
To pretend I was asleep.
And maybe you would forget about me,
That didn’t stop you.
You still remembered to show your love,
By the time you were done,
I couldn’t move.
For a second I thought it was all a dream,
Then I felt the excruciating pain;
That you have caused showing your love.
The next morning I wake up,
Still hurting to move,
With no sign of you around.
I make my way to the bus stop,
Like I do everyday,
But I don’t make it.
When I awake I heard a lady’s voice.
“Can you tell me what happened to you?”
“ My dad loved me too much”
