We all may have obstacles, some tough

some fair...
But the struggles in my day are tougher--
if you're a black woman with coarse hair.
The white man treats me mean and sells me to his brother
But wants me to nurse his babies like some kind of mother
All my life I worked as a man , for my young one... I hold in my hand.
We all may have obstacles some tough some fair
But by being a black woman no one seems to care.

I would go out and work in the hot blazing sun
fellow slaves I would see frantically  trying to run-

I look up to the sky and call out for the almighty god to help
but I hear nothing , feels like  im crying out to myself

One day a spirit called out to me, telling me to help save the youth
the words I spoke were honest , as my new name was Truth.
I spent my life changing the world for the blacks fair shot
living off high hopes that’s the only thing I’ve got.

We all may have obstacles, some tough some fair…
But you can get through them, knowing that a god is there
“My Children, My People” we are trying our best
making history throughout time,as we call it are
Struggles to Success.

Some People may not know me , but I been through alot
watching my father's death , by the master he was shot
several kids taken from me and shipped overseas
oh the pain and agony a mother's heart could bleed

I go by sojourner truth , the one who speaks to god
blessings come my way ,
no more tearful cries and sobs

Helping my people voice their freedom , its why I strive more than the rest
but to get to our american dream
we face our Struggles To Success.
