facing fear

Standing at the edge of the sea
The sand slipping beneath my feet;
Taking a step unknown and daunting
Fear of failure ever haunting;
Daring to take a chance
on the waves of change;
Hardly able to breathe
Stepping back and for a brief reprieve;
Overcoming my fear
Not holding back;
I dive in head first
fearing the worst;
My heart leaps for joy
As I breach the water’s surface;
I have faced my fear
My future is here!
