Kansas
Church shingles sloping steep against a bright blue sky
A prairie sky and by and by a Kansas high
Lodged deep in my memory
And a slow green hill and a tall grey fence hung wall to wall with tennis mats not wet but dry
Not by sun by firefly
Silhouetted against that prairie sky that Kansas high
Lodged deep in my memory
A poem waits on nigh
Lodged deep in the annals of my mind
Lost in space found in time
Flowing like a bright blue sky
A prairie sky and by and by a Kansas high
Lodged deep in my memory
