Lost Youth
I
We are the wandering children
We are the lost youth
Existing together
Minds filled with fear. Alas,
Our courage falters, when
We speak.
Are tired and alone,
As a gull out at sea
Or a refugee fleeing war
In our societies.
Weak without courage, lost without hope
We move through society afraid to stand out.
II
Eyes afraid to look around
For fear of meeting another's gaze
Wanting to hide
Wanting to be invisible
We back away from society
Distancing ourselves
The further we get,
The safer we feel
Not seeing that we have made society it's own group
Separate from and surrounded by its scared youth trying to hide.
III
This is the dark land
This is the quiet land
Here the youth alone
Hide in the shadows of fear together
Being too scared to see the others hiding with them
Surrounded in their own shadows of self-doubt
Allowing the demons they create roam free.
