Ode to Pencils
Oh Pencils--
How you've shaped my youth.
Opening a box was exciting
As losing my first tooth.
Your fine, thin body
Moved through my fingers, swift
As the moon rays beaming
Through the fine evening mist.
Your smell was so crisp,
Filling up my hungry nose.
Your creations spawned from my hands
The only utensil I'd ever known.
Now your little gray doodles of flowers and trees
Subside to the computer's bright little screen.
Oh pencils, I loved you!
And your warm yellow glow,
Oh pencils, oh pencils.
Where did our time go?

Pencils have always been my favorite writing utensil. They are so elegant and simple! But now, in the age of technology, they are losing popularity. So I decided to write a fun little poem about me and pencils' epic love.
