DAD
I remember your last day,
like it was yesterday.
Playing video games,
to playing catch,
   to eating food,
to making fun of Grandma.

I remember your last words to me
“I love you buddy, I’ll see you next weekend.”
I was planning on seeing you,
but that weekend came, you weren’t there.

The moment your heart stopped beating
I knew it was your choice to go.
I love and miss you Dad,
I hope you're proud of who I have become.

I’m going to do things you’ve never done before
but this time you’re going on this journey with me.
Every ounce of me hurt when you left,
I was getting the father-son relationship.

All of us here on Earth ask one question,
Did you know your time here on Earth was going to expire?

I would do anything to hear your voice just one more time
one more chance to say “I love you Dad.”
The best memory I have is when you told me you're coming home,
here in Michigan where you always should’ve been.

I wish I could go back to November 18th, 2012 to tell you what happened
so you could’ve gotten help, so I could’ve had more time with you.
Each memory we had will always have a place in my heart
every phone call, every visit, every text message saying “Hey bud call me”

Your bumpy road ended way too soon
One more favor I’m going to ask for
just continue to watch over me.
All my success I want to do it in your honor
I love you Dad.

What inspired me the most is that I miss my father and I wanted to express my thoughts on how I feel through a poem.
