On my last day
I would like to
reminisce--
To remember the moment I slept on the
evergreen livingroom couch
and woke up to a soft snow-
falling sky.
To see how my parents look at me
with shining eyes-- brimming with love,
affection and hope.
To hear the booming and crackling sounds of
firecrackers; watching the faces of those around me
light up with strong hues of red,
blue and green.
To recall the way my mouth
watered when
my mother made her
savory beef tacos.
To relive the feeling of hand upon
hand-- squeezing with the desire
to stop time, to never
let go and to never
forget.
