Hostile Mathematics
Swing left, starting the fight with confidence
the equation struggles, focusing on defense
At first it seems weak, its victory seems bleak
but it comes right back up, hitting my left cheek
the blow dealt some damage, my mind feels confused
I try to graph it out but my thoughts become abused
working my way through the problem I see Part D,
it makes me want to flee, my mind feels free, to
drop the whole fight, I might accept defeat
but I greet the new issue with my greatest feat
I see a shortcut in the problem, in fact I see a bunch
I map out my victory as a 1, 2 punch
the first strike finds X, the second Y
I finish the problem fast, floating into the sky
coming down hard, ready to move on
As I turn in the test, I realize everyone’s gone
No one was ever there, it was just a weird dream
I wake up now, the whole thing feels extreme
I put in the effort like an Olympic swimmer
At the end of the day I feel like a winner
