The 17-year-old with glossy eyes enclosed in puffy pink, that can't seem to hold a stare
The misinterpreted teen who sits in a corner, thought to be texting away, who is actually researching ways to kill herself after class
The 21-year-old so overwhelmed with life that she decides to take
A few more aspirin that normal
The siren I imagine hearing wail down the road, when I read about the young man who "fell out the window" last week
Horrible feelings these young people must feel
Such raging emotional pain mistaken for physical that only they, themselves can feel
And not even they understand
Yet I feel all this at once
And as I stare out at the gloomy scene of the dusk wrapped around the December moss
I feel like becoming nothing
And doing nothing
Not even going out for ice cream
Like most other 10-year-olds would
