Boys and Girls

both black and white

we must come together 

to end this fight.

we must remember more

little boys and girls 

segregated by color

some beaten to death

some left to suffer.

He had a dream 

of times like this

to end the pain

he could only wish.

Such a tragic death 

to see a hero go

but the dream is still here

and you don’t even know.

He fought his fight

but now it’s our turn.

Forget what you know

get ready to learn.

Pull up your pants

stand tall and proud

put down the guns

we’ll make a new sound.

We’re all different 

but that’s okay
