Effort
When I was young I did my best,
because I knew I didn’t want to be like the rest.
Where has that work brought me to?
a bunch of idiots who don’t care about me or you.
They throw a fit every time they bruise
not caring that we are about to lose.
During practice all they do is mess around
but during the game they find themselves lying on the ground.
When are they going to learn?
That it’s their turn.
Their turn to do their best
and not be like the rest.
To work hard
so the score is better than sub-par.
To function as a team
not a bunch of bullheads full of steam.
To respect each other
maybe even treat them like a brother.
I may be asking a lot
but that’s what it takes to be at the top.
