Where I am From
I am from a family of four boys,
  from Hartland, Wisconsin.
I am from water skiing and tubing,
from Slip N Slides to squirt guns.
  I am from home-cooked meals,
from pancakes to Oreo ice cream cake.
  Comfortable, relaxing, and cheerful...
I’m from nights with family and friends,
from adventures in the Patagonia to heart-stopping Packer games.
  I’m from classic nicknames,
from “Big Willy Style” to the simple, but defining, “Boelter.”
I’m from two-a-days on the turf,
from Friday night lights to dance parties with the team.
  Dream on...
I am from yummy, home-cooked meals,
from chocolate chip pancakes to BBQ pulled pork sandwiches.
I am from my “apprenticeship” as a pancake flipper,
from the art of a perfect breakfast to that sizzling bacon on the pan.
I am from compassion and love,
from Christian morals that shaped the compassionate and understanding guy I am.
I am one of a kind...
I’m from my parents’ trusting and happy marriage,
from their expectations of personal conduct to advice on college choices.
  I’m from a speeding ticket,
from learning how to live safely and the consequences if I do not.
  I’m from suburban Wisconsin,
from a family of six to a homey, red brick house.
  Never broken.
