We Were Liars
We were liars
We were puppets on a string
Fragile, broken things
They could make us dance and sing
We were liars
We were monsters in a cage
We were demons locked away
To save the children from our pain
But we’re so tired
Of being seen but never heard
Of being placed here on this earth
Of being taught to never learn
We are liars
Who never told the truth
We’ve been actors since our youth
It’s all we know to do
We were liars
We are liars
But we’re so tired
Of being liars

I started to write this as a song but decided it worked best as a poem. This little rhyming piece is about the human condition and all the disguises we hide behind. Hope you enjoy!
