She Smiled (There's a Girl #2)
There is a girl
Who is sad
But she hides her pain
with a smile and a few jokes
And makes sure
everyone else is happy
And goes home
There is a girl
Who doesn’t feel anything
But she gets up
Puts on a mask
And tells a few jokes
Earns a few smiles
And goes home
There is a girl
who is empty
But she fills herself with bubbles
That her friends can feed off of
And she tells a few jokes
Gets a few smiles
And goes home
There is a girl
Who is tired
But she gets out of bed
She puts on her make up
She goes to a place she doesn’t even enjoy
So she can tell jokes
And her friends can smile
There is a girl who is tired of her mask
Tired of the empty feeling
Tired of the numb feeling
Tired of the sad feeling
Tired of being tired
But she cant stop
So she does what she does best
And puts on her makeup
She fills herself with bubbles
She tells a few jokes
And makes a few people laugh
And
She smiles

My mom, my English teacher, and my councilor told me to try to publish this. I think a lot of people, especially teens, deal with a lot of "masks" in life. I just feel like this poem could be relatable to more than a few people and I'd like to help people feel less alone through my writing.
