Monster
Above the door to your garage there is a small hole in the ceiling just big enough for a face.
There, devilish eyes follow you around and glint hungry in the low light.
At night you lie awake in total darkness and you swear the ghastly face made out of shadows in the doorway
isn't just your imagination.
The face gets closer, night after night, blink after blink.
Monsters aren't real, everyone knows that.
It is just wind coming through the window, you tell yourself,
as warm air breathes down your neck.
