Walk With Me Softly
Come, run with me,
and let us use up all our time with great gasps of air.
The end draws a little nearer with each breath you take,
and each second you steal from
this grand collection of eclectic moments.
And stop puffing out your cheeks and plugging your nose
and holding your coat over your mouth
because you are afraid to breathe.
You are going to run out anyway.
You are not invincible.
Neither am I.
But steal them slowly,
do not stop or inhale too fast.
Walk with me softly,
and dip your toes into the waves.
Save your strength for when you are actually
afraid.
