Autumn in Michigan
I see the billowing clouds
keeping the sun from shining
Almost as if it were trapped behind bars
only to be released at dawn
I hear the crow calls
amongst the crickets chirping,
squirrels scrambling,
and leaves rustling
The cool breeze blows across my face
and my nose turns numb
without a bright and warm sun
If only I could savor this moment
before colorful leaves turned to brown
and fall to the ground
Before the snow falls
and the winter wind
chill me to the bone
