Grandfather's Memories
Grandfather’s Memories
As the grandfather clock clicks,
it’s heartbeat begins to slow.
He reflects over his life,
justifying his actions throughout each tick.
He begins to count,
all the wasted time he’s collected.
All the faded memories,
drowned in the river of time.
He’s seen many things,
& felt pain and separation.
Losing the one who created him,
letting his love slip through his fingers.
As the the grandfather clock ticks,
you see a single tear fall ever so gentle.
Wishing he could turn back time,
instead of being helpless to watch it pass by.
Hands that do not obey his commands,
swiping at all those held dear.
He remembers all,
time like an elephant mind.
Regrets begin to ambush him,
for all the years of non-existence.
He wishes for others to learn,
to not waste time.
A mistake he knows too well.
If only he could command this power,
he could relive those moments.
But instead,
he stands there,
defeated by an enemy he thought was a friend.
Wishing he could have what all people want,
more time.
