Liberty with Ignorance
I remember when I was younger and pronouns didn't matter.
When we weren’t polarized by red and blue,
we were too busy learning which side was left and which side was right,
to learn which side was wrong.
When the sandbox did not disciminate.
When scars came from falling off my bike,
and tears came for much easier reasons.
But I can’t remember my innocence.
I can't remember being naive.
Seeing the world as a blank slate.
I can't remember not being afraid of the world.
Why with such smaller hands was the world so much easier to hold?
I can't remember a time when my thoughts weren’t vilified by my experience.
When the truth didn't seem so scary,
when my truth was my knowledge.
When the only labels imposed on us where on the back of our clothes
