Waffles
There was a time in my life
Where I only ate waffles
For breakfast
Crispy and drowning in syrup
Like I drowned my body
In dark clothes
A time where I bled lies
On the rare occasion I spoke.
In the sixth grade I would cry
cling onto my mom’s torso
everyday before school.
At the hospital they said
I was a sick kid.
If I was sick
why was I forced to go to school?
There was a time in my life
Where I only wrote sad poems
And I’ve gone back,
Erased the last stanza
My story will not end
With soggy waffles.
