I am fear
I am sadness
I am the dark shadows in the corner of your eyes.
I am the tears that drop
I am the ugly thoughts you just can't stop.
I am everything you try to fix while slashing the beautiful skin on your wrists.
I make you feel trapped
I make you feel helpless
I make your words tremble and your heart sink.
I make you question every move
I make your hands shake and your body ache
I make you feel like you can't breath because you're drowning in overthinking.
You try to make me go away
You try to cover me with fake smiles and long sleeves.
You try to get help, but nothing works
You try to lie to yourself
You try to be social, make friends but it's impossible.
You try to forget the negative thoughts coming from every direction, but those words are tattooed darker than any ink.
Insecurity is more than a lack of confidence
Sadness is more than crying
Saying sorry doesn't fix everything.
Depression is more than a ten lettered word.
Depression is like a war.
You either win or die trying.
