I beg of you to look at me
Look at me and tell me I'm just as great as her.
That I'm everything you want, that I'm not just some mistake you made.
Tell me, please tell me.
Wash me from this burden I carry like a cross pinned to my back, dragging me down till I'm skin and bones, blood and tears.
Look at me as I lay on this dirt and plead, plead for you to look.
Tell me I haven't wasted my time that
you have not wasted your time.
I seek no approval mind you, no,
I seek answers.
Answer me.
Look at me.

The author's comments:

Hi, so basically what inspired me to write this was a thought that I ha, had when my iPad screen cracked. I had told my sister that my iPad had fallen for the floor, but the floor was abusive. So you see it got me thinking about abusive relationships and how all the women are portrayed as weak and approval seeking and I just wanted to look at a different perspective. I hope you enjoy this short free verse poem.
