Because of You
My life is a living hell.
I am not needed; I am a waste of life.
I feel vulnerable; no matter what
I am completely useless
I am not wanted, needed or seen by anyone

Until you came around and changed my mind

I am unique; loved.
Smiles and giggles fill my life
Everyone says I brighten up the room when I walk in
I never failed to tell myself I was alright;
I always made it through.
Never did I say, I had a horrible day.

Read backwards line for line to see a different perspective

Dying
The ones with the most wonderful minds are stuck in small towns;
dying to get out.

The ones that have the best taste in music don't have enough for a pair of headphones
dying to hear the music.

The ones that make others laugh; don't feel happy
dying to make sure others don’t feel the same.

The ones working; from early to late don't get enough money for rent
dying to find a better job.

The ones that feel lost; don't get stability from anyone
dying to feel at home.

The ones drowning themselves in intoxication; don't think of the consequences
dying to feel something.

There's no way they can;
this world isn’t what it used to be.

We don’t care for the ones that are struggling
All we care about is title and money
no more mind over matter.
it’s money over matter.

It’s survival of the richest now;
and that just might destroy us
Or is it;
we’re destroying ourselves?

Home
My heart beats in my chest
barely able to move in the crowd
Their hearts beating like mine

“They left us alone…”

Chants of the artist begin.
The lights went down and shouts of pure exhilaration spring out
Adrenaline bursts through me.

“The kids in the dark…”

The first riff of the guitar rings out
and I just sit there mesmerized by the people I listen to everyday

“To burn out forever…”

Still not able to believe that this is happening
I mindlessly shout lyrics that are imprinted in my mind

“Or light up a spark…”

I look to the people around me
and I feel at home.
My favorite feeling in the world

“We come together, State of the art.  We’ll never surrender…”

Lyrics from Kids In The Dark by All Time Low

Surrendering

Uniforms freshly washed by their mothers
“don’t cry, I’ll be back soon”

Being sent off to the misinterpreted
“it’s going to be great, lads”

Thrown down deep into the trenches
“this war will be over soon, boys”

With rifles in hand
“we used to play army as kids in the fields, this is just like it”

Forced to kill people that look the same
“they’re the enemy, kill them”

Uniforms drenched, covered in mud and their brothers’ blood
“the storm should pass in a minute”

Humans killing their own kind
“it’s what’s right”

What is right or wrong anymore?
“does that matter? we’ll be heroes”

Scarred for the rest of their natural life
“we’ll feel proud and glorious when we go home”

Finger on the trigger
“we can win this fight”

Gun’s muzzle still trained on a human
“we can’t help him any longer”

But it’s not across no-man's land but to their own head
“coward.”
